About Elizabeth Traill
Elizabeth Traill was educated in Britain and the USA. She attained a BSc Magna Cum Laude from the USA, a Master’s Degree in Child Development and Psychology from UCL and a PGCE from the University of Roehampton, London. As part of her continued professional development she gained a PGC in Dyslexia and Literacy from the University of York.
Throughout 29 years of teaching she has developed and tested a phonics book with a difference that is designed to delight and inspire the reader. Each long vowel sound is repeated in a witty, rhyming poem that is accompanied by beautiful illustrations to add context and understanding. The poems help instill synthetic phonics and encourage phonological processing, an essential skill for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Repetition, rhythm and rhyme contribute to overlearning, securing key knowledge to encourage confidence, mastery and independence in both reading and comprehension.
